Yugi arrives at Death Valley against his friend's wishes, but he knows he has to go. There, he meets Raphael personally for the first time. Raphael doesn't waist any time, and soon they are both locked in battle. To Yugi's surprise, Raphael doesn't play the Seal of Orichalcos card. Raphael seems powerful enough without it, though, but Yugi thinks that mabye Raphael has a trick up his sleeve. Raphael keeps playing cards that allow him to draw more. Soon, Raphael has the Seal of Orichalcos in his hand, but he still doesn't play it. Using a combination of cards, he makes sure that both him and Yugi only have one card in their hand. Then he plays Exchange so Yugi gets the Seal of Orichalcos. Yugi doesn't want to play it, but Yami tells him that it's the only way to win. When Yami holds the card, however he feels a strange urge of greed and completely ignores Yugi. Yugi becomes scared of Yami for the first time. Yami plays the Seal of Orichalcos and suddenly starts to shout dangerousliy, barking insults at Raphael. He begins to play much better in the Duel, due to the Seal of Orichalcos, and his friends cheer from him, except Joey. Joey knows that Yugi's not acting like himself. Yugi plays Catapult Turtle, sacrificing Big Shield Gardna. He sacrifices his Dark Magician, saying that he's useless and can only serve a purpose once in the graveyard - powering up Dark Magician Girl. Joey says that that is extremely strange. Yugi loves the Dark Magician, as he does all his cards. He woudn't call any of them useless. Yugi tries to remind him that the monsters are real as Orichalcos is in play, but he doesn't listen. Yami sacrifices the Dark Magician Girl, but Raphael saves himself by activating Shrink. Yami's arrogance and greed eventually causes him to lose the duel! Yugi forgives him, realising that it was the Seal of Orichalcos that made Yami act that way. Yugi realises also that Yami is the only person that can save the world again. Yugi is too weak to do it. So he pushes Yami out the way and lets the Seal of Orichalcos take his soul. Yami gets all emotional, and vowes to save Yugi, Pegasus and Mai's good side.
